Protests erupted in Iran on December 28 over the economic crisis and currency collapse, later growing into wider anti-government protests. Officials said the protests turned deadly after crowds attacked the governor's office in Fasa. Hundreds of protestors have been killed since then. The US has warned Iran against using force, while Iran's government threatened protesters with the death penalty.
