RBI is planning a pilot test of ₹10 and ₹20 polymer banknotes (plastic) that are more resistant to dirt, moisture and tearing, which could extend to higher denominations if successful, Moneycontrol reported. The choice of ₹10 and ₹20 notes is reportedly because they have limited financial impact, are largely distributed via banks not ATMs and are more frequently handled.
