Why should a person never hold a sneeze?
short by Anmol Sharma / on Friday, 2 January, 2026
Holding a sneeze traps air moving at nearly 160 kmph inside body, sharply increasing pressure in ears, sinuses, throat and lungs. This can rupture eardrums and throat, and trigger infections. In extreme cases, forcibly holding in sneeze can lead to rupture of blood vessels in head/neck. Doctors advise letting a sneeze out safely into a tissue to prevent internal injuries.
