Why was India's strikes on Pak, PoK called 'Operation Sindoor'?

India's strikes on Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to the Pahalgam terror attack was named 'Operation Sindoor'. Sindoor, or vermilion, is a mark of a married Hindu woman. During the April 22 terror attack, terrorists singled out Hindu men, many of whom were killed in front of their wives. The operation's name is reportedly in reference to this.
