Indian government hiked petrol and diesel prices by up to ₹3 per litre. This comes amid a sharp rise in crude oil prices triggered by Iran war. As India imports most of its crude oil requirements, higher global prices raise oil marketing companies' procurement costs, prompting them to pass on part of the burden to consumers through higher fuel prices.
