Why world’s biggest waterfall is invisible to the human eye?
short by Aradhana / on Sunday, 15 February, 2026
The world’s largest waterfall, Denmark Strait cataract, lies completely hidden beneath the sea surface. The water plunges downward through the strait to about 11,500 feet. Cold Nordic Seas water becomes dense, while warmer Atlantic water stays comparatively lighter. The heavier water sinks rapidly below, creating a powerful downward surge. There is no thunderous roar like traditional waterfall.
