Widespread rains overcome rain deficit in Punjab

A four-day wet spell over north-west India with widespread showers over the past 24 hours has overcome the significant rain deficit in Punjab for the month of May. Rains, which were below the long period average (LPA) by 37% till May 29, are now surplus by 25%. A continuous well spell over Punjab and Haryana is expected till June 6.
