WII warns of 'catastrophic' risks to wildlife from Puri airport

The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) on Friday warned that the proposed Puri airport in Odisha could pose "catastrophic" risks to migratory birds and threaten critical habitats of endangered marine species like Olive Ridley turtles. Citing its proximity to Balukhand-Konark Wildlife Sanctuary, WII said this would increase the risk of bird strikes and pose hazards to aviation safety.
