India's NH 44 features a wildlife-friendly elevated highway passing through the Pench Tiger Reserve. It includes nine underpasses and several bridges for safe animal crossings. These underpasses resemble natural caves and are equipped with CCTV. In 2020, 18 wild species used them over 5,000 times. Similar efforts in Assam and Uttarakhand prioritise wildlife conservation alongside road development.
