The GST Council has slashed taxes on medical devices, diagnostics, and medicines to 5%, exempted 36 lifesaving drugs, and removed GST on health insurance premiums. Effective September 22, 2025, the reforms aim to make healthcare affordable, boost rural access, strengthen small hospitals, and bridge India's health equity gap.
