OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, who was killed onboard Titanic submarine, told a friend in 2019 he'd shut down the company before operating an unsafe submarine, Insider reported. Karl Stanley, who's an expert in submersibles, had expressed concerns about OceanGate's submersible. "I'll not take nonessential crew, clients or media...until I'm confident...the hull is safe," Rush told Stanley in email.
