Winner of Nobel Prize in Physics announced, gets ₹11.5 crore cash prize

The 2026 Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to Belgian-born particle physicist and astroparticle physicist Francis Halzen. He has been honoured "for decisive contributions to the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and the discovery of high-energy neutrinos of astrophysical origin". He will receive a prize money of 12 million Swedish kronor (over ₹11.5 crore).
