With TFR declining, Chandrababu Naidu now wants population growth
In a move aimed at increasing the TFR in the state, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced incentives for couples to have more children. Andhra Pradesh’s Total Fertility Rate is at 1.5 — unchanged across six consecutive years, and 28 percent below the 2.1 replacement threshold.
