Wolves living near Chernobyl nuclear plant develop cancer-fighting abilities: Study

Wolves living in the human-free Chernobyl Exclusion Zone (CEZ) have evolved cancer-resilient genomes, according to a study presented at Society of Integrative and Comparative Biology's annual meeting. Cara Love, evolutionary biologist at Princeton University, has been studying the wolves for 10 years. Scientists reportedly hope that the findings may increase the odds of surviving cancer in humans.
