A World Athletics study published on Thursday found that women were targeted in 87% of online abuse that a sample of athletes faced during Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The study found the abuse included sexist, racist, transphobic and homophobic content, along with unfounded doping allegations. From 23 athletes identified in the study as having received abuse, 16 were women.
