Women in the Mosuo tribe, among the last matriarchal societies, do not marry, taking as many lovers as they wish. Called the "Kingdom of Women" in China, the tribe does not have any word for "father" and "husband." Women make most major decisions, control household finances, have the ownership of houses and land and full rights to their children.
