Working night shifts may increase risk of breast cancer: Study

The study, led by Dr Tapasree Roy and published in the journal Oncology, finds that night shifts and irregular sleep schedules may increase the risk of aggressive breast cancer. Researchers found that disrupted circadian rhythms weaken immune defenses, alter breast tissue, and allow tumors to grow faster and spread more easily, highlighting sleep as a critical cancer risk factor.
