In a major medical advancement, an artificial heart capable of adding five years of extra life to the patient has been successfully implanted in a 75-year-old French man. This device is expected to work for five years, unlike previous artificial hearts that were created mainly for temporary use. The artificial heart has been designed by French biomedical firm Carmat.
