World Athletics on Friday announced a ban on using prototype shoes in competition. The move has come after a recent spate of world records set by athletes wearing Nike's Vaporfly trainers. World Athletics stated any shoe that must have been available for purchase on the open retail market for a period of four months before the competition can be used.
