World Bank upgrades Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Philippines to 'upper-middle-income category'

World Bank has upgraded Sri Lanka, Vietnam and the Philippines to the upper-middle-income status. The Bank classifies countries into four income groups: high income (₹13,28,144 and above), upper middle (₹4,28,378–₹13,28,144), lower middle (₹1,08,272–₹4,28,377) and low income (₹1,08,176 or less). Rankings are based on total income earned by a country's people and businesses, divided by population.
