Spanish tennis player Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, who's ranked 83rd in the world rankings, defeated world number six and Wimbledon defending champion Marketa Vondrousova in the first round of Wimbledon 2024's women's singles event. Jessica beat Vondrousova 6-4, 6-2, recording the win in 67 minutes. Vondrousova became the second defending champion to lose in Wimbledon's first round in the Open Era.
