World population will reach 11.2 billion by 2100, the United Nations said on Monday. By 2050, the population will increase to 9.7 billion from the current population of 7.3 billion. This rise in population will be fuelled by Africa which is projected to jump from 1.2 billion currently to between 3.4 and 5.6 billion by 2100, the UN said.
