World's chocolate supply in danger due to rapidly spreading virus: Study

The world's chocolate supply is in danger because of a virus spread that is infecting cacao trees in West Africa, a new study published in PLoS ONE revealed. Ghanaian cacao harvests are experiencing losses of up to 15-50% due to spread of Cacao Swollen Shoot Virus Disease. Insects called mealybugs are reportedly transmitting the virus by feeding on infected trees.
