The US Food and Drug Administration has approved the world's first artificial pancreas. The 'Medtronic MiniMed 670G' is a smartphone-sized device that continuously monitors blood sugar levels and delivers needed insulin to Type 1 Diabetes patients, and is expected to hit markets in spring next year. Notably, Type 1, or early onset diabetes has no known cure.
