World's largest diamond was cut into over 100 smaller stones

The world's largest diamond ever found, the Cullinan Diamond, was discovered in a mine in South Africa on January 25, 1905. The 3,106-carat diamond was later cut into nine large stones and about 100 smaller ones. The largest of these stones is called 'Star of Africa I' or 'Cullinan I', and is set in the Crown Jewels of the UK.
