World's most heat resistant material identified

With a record melting point of nearly 4000°C, hafnium carbide has been identified as the world's most heat resistant material. A team of UK-based researchers found that hafnium carbide can withstand temperatures up to 3958°C. Using a new heating technique that was able to provide higher temperatures, the material was found to exceed its existing records of withstanding high temperatures.
