World's oldest living person, Japan's Kane Tanaka, passes away at 119

Japan's Kane Tanaka, who was declared the world's oldest living person by the Guinness World Records, passed away on April 19, 2022, aged 119. The news was confirmed by Senior Gerontology Consultant Robert Young, who also helped confirm Kane's record as the oldest person living and oldest person living (female) in 2019. Tanaka had recently been hospitalised and discharged repeatedly.
