The world's richest 1% have as much wealth as the bottom 50%, according to a Credit Suisse report. The richest people have seen their share of the world's total wealth increase from 42.5% at the time of 2008 financial crisis to 50.1% or $140 trillion in 2017. The world's 3.5 billion poorest adults have assets of less than $10,000 each.
