YouTube started as a video dating site by Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim. No one participated, so they pivoted in 2005 to allow video sharing. This led to massive success, and in 2006, Google acquired YouTube for $1.65 billion. Today, it’s the world’s largest video-sharing platform, hosting billions of videos and reaching millions daily.
