According to YouTube Co-founder Steve Chen, the video-sharing platform was originally designed to be a video-based dating website. YouTube was created to let users upload videos of themselves talking about the partner of their dreams. Despite offering $20 to women to upload videos, nobody agreed to come forward after which the Co-founders opened up YouTube to all kinds of videos.
