A protective shield at Chernobyl nuclear plant in Ukraine, can no longer perform its safety function due to drone damage, UN nuclear watchdog International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said. The shield was built to contain radioactive material from the 1986 disaster. In February 2025, Ukraine had alleged that Russian drones had struck the Chernobyl nuclear plant and caused a fire.
