Taxpayers earning up to ₹12 lakh/year will have to pay "zero" income tax under new tax regime, FM Nirmala Sitharaman announced in Union Budget. "To taxpayers up to ₹12 lakh of normal income tax rebate is being provided in addition to benefit due to slab rate reduction in such a manner that there's no tax payable by them," she added.
