New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani selected three Qurans for his swearing-in ceremonies. For the initial oath after midnight, he used two Qurans: his grandfather’s and a late 18th or early 19th century manuscript from the New York Public Library's Schomburg Center. At the City Hall ceremony, Mamdani took his oath on two family Qurans, belonging to his grandfather and grandmother.
