As New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani prepares to assume office on January 1, 2026, the City Council has proposed a 16% pay hike for him and senior officials. The bill, introduced by Councilwoman Nantasha Williams and co-sponsored by 32 members, would raise salaries from $148,500 to $172,500 for the mayor, public advocate, comptroller, among others.
