A team led by geneticist Jean-Michel Claverie revived such viruses capable of infecting single-cell organisms. But scientists fear viruses capable of infecting humans likely also lurk in permafrost.

India has reportedly refuted a New York Times' report that alleged that state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) may have "re-routed British sensitive equipment" to Russian Rosoboronexport, which is sanctioned by UK and EU. External Affairs Ministry sources said, "The report is factually incorrect and misleading. It has tried to frame issues and distort facts to suit a political narrative."
