London has a movable bridge that rolls into an octagon over the Grand Union Canal at Paddington Basin. The 12-metre bridge, featuring eight triangular sections and hydraulic rams, provides an access route to pedestrians. The bridge, designed by Thomas Heatherwick, has won numerous awards, including a Structural Steel Award and an Emerging Architecture Award.
