The members of the women's handball team were asked to deposit ₹3 lakh to participate in Women's Junior (U20) Handball World Championships in China. Following the derecognition of Handball Association of India (HAI) due to administrative issues, the team received no funding from Sports Ministry for the tournament. Some players had to take loans to meet boarding and lodging expenses.
