Chinese students develop device for underwater texting without radio

Five Chinese students have created DiveGuard, a device that enables divers to communicate and send quick text messages underwater using acoustic signals. Unlike radio-based systems, the gadget works without radio waves and is designed for challenging diving conditions where hand signals may be ineffective. DiveGuard was also named a finalist at the 2026 Conrad Challenge Innovation Summit.
