Scientists used Claude for research that could aid biological weapons, says Anthropic

Anthropic, in its threat intelligence report, said it stopped multiple attempts by scientists this year to use Claude for research that could aid biological weapons development. It detailed five cases in which researchers allegedly bypassed safeguards or obscured their research purposes. Some activity originated from Russia, China and Iran, where access to Anthropic’s services is restricted.
