'Godfather of AI' explains how AI could end humanity

Geoffrey Hinton, known as the "Godfather of AI", said AI could pose a threat to humanity even without being instructed to cause harm. Giving an example, Hinton said an AI instructed to reduce carbon dioxide could eliminate humans to achieve that goal. He warned that highly capable AI could also create its own subgoals while pursuing the assigned task.
