Govt responds as ex-Finance Secretary contradicts India's 7.8% GDP growth rate

Statistics Ministry has responded to ex-Finance Secretary Subhash Chandra Garg's claim that April-June 2025's current GDP was revised down by ₹6 lakh crore to ₹80 lakh crore to make April-June 2026's GDP growth look "better" at 7.8%. It attributed the revision to a base year change from 2011-12 to 2022-23. It also cited improved data sources for the GDP revision.
