Writer Jindal who grew up without electricity wins Sahitya Akademi Award

Punjabi writer Harjinder Pal, better known as Jinder, has won Sahitya Akademi Award 2025 for his short story collection 'Safety Kit'. Born into a simple family in Punjab's Ladhar, his village had no electricity connection in his early years. He revealed he was not fond of Punjabi literature initially, but was later encouraged by a friend to start writing.
