WTO e-commerce moratorium expires amid US-Brazil deadlock

The e-commerce moratorium, a WTO agreement banning customs duties on electronic transmissions, has expired, Reuters reported, citing the WTO conference chair. Introduced in 1998, it was typically renewed every two years. At the recent WTO conference in Cameroon, talks reached a deadlock between the US and Brazil over extending the moratorium beyond two years.
