AI coding token costs could soon equal or exceed the monthly salary of a software engineer, according to Gartner. The research firm expects enterprises to spend as much on AI token usage as developer pay within two years. Rising adoption of generative AI and agentic coding tools is driving the increase in enterprise spending.
