The US has agreed to modify sanctions on Venezuela to allow it to pay for former President Nicolas Maduro's legal defence in a drug trafficking case. Maduro and his wife were captured by the US in a raid in January and brought to New York to face criminal charges, including narcoterrorism conspiracy. Both have pleaded not guilty.
