Air Canada CEO to retire after criticism for not speaking French in statement on US plane crash

Air Canada CEO Michael Rousseau will retire by October, the airline announced after he was criticised for only speaking English and not French while condoling the deaths of two pilots in a collision in US. Canadian PM Mark Carney welcomed the move, saying, "It's absolutely essential that his successor is ​completely bilingual." Canada has two official languages, English and French.
