The eight people arrested in connection with Ram mandir theft case are charged with misappropriation of donations at the temple and replacing gold, silver and diamond ornaments by fakes. They have also been found responsible for discrepancies in donation handling and financial records. The maximum punishment for criminal breach of trust by officials (Section 316(5) of BNS) is life imprisonment.
