The US has supported UK PM Keir Starmer's agreement to transfer the Chagos Islands to Mauritius while leasing back the Diego Garcia military base. US President Donald Trump called it "the best he could make". However, he warned that if deal fails or US forces are threatened, he "retains the right to militarily secure and reinforce" the American presence there.
