Oxford Univ Press apologises for unverified comments on Shivaji Maharaj

Oxford University Press (India) issued an apology to MP Udayanraje Bhosale, 13th-generation descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, over "unverified" statements about the Maratha king in a book released in 2003. The book, 'Shivaji: Hindu King in Islamic India', was authored by American historian James Laine. "We sincerely regret publishing those statements," a public notice by OUP India read.
