Why are students protesting in France?

Student protests spread to high schools across France on Monday, leaving dozens injured. Teenagers at French lycées have been blockading their schools since last week over overcrowded classes, heavy workloads, poor-quality learning materials and teacher shortages. Videos showed protesters lighting flares and setting off fireworks, including inside a school building.
